WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is opening a massive new sports bar directly across from Madison Square Garden, an arena many consider his spiritual home. According to a report from Page Six, which Hogan confirmed on his Instagram, the bar will be a 9,000-square-foot, $7 million project named ‘Slam’.
The bar will be filled with Hogan memorabilia and feature screens playing some of his most iconic moments. It will also boast a wall of windows facing the world’s most famous arena. The location is currently owned by New York nightlife veteran Rich Rosen, who pitched the idea directly to Hogan.
“I basically waited 5 hours on line to get two seconds with Hulk Hogan,” Rosen told Page Six. “I came with an 8 by 11 glossy picture of Madison Square Garden, and in the picture is our [storefront]… I walked up to Hulk, I dropped the picture in front of him.”
The pitch worked, as Hogan called Rosen four days later to confirm his interest. The three-floor establishment, which will include a rooftop bar, is planned to open this fall. It will feature Hogan’s ‘Real American Beer’ brand, although Rosen noted that Hogan will not have a direct ownership stake in the project.
